Ayana

Naoto Fukasawa

The Ayana chair for outdoor use makes use of wood with a pleasant oriental touch. The round section frame is in natural teakwood and is complemented by generously padded cushions that make it extremely comfortable. The Ayana series, which also includes a dining table, low table, sofas and armchairs, is a project with a green soul. The teakwood used for the frames is FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) certified and all the materials that make up the various elements of the series are designed to be separated and disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner at the end of the product’s life cycle.

Belle

Naoto Fukasawa

The Belle wooden chair stands out for its rounded lines and leather upholstered seat. The round section legs are given a classical feel by curving slightly outwards in the lower part. Towards the top they join up with the backrest to create elegant, elbow-shaped armrests. The backrest comes in two versions: in wood, in the same finishes as the frame, or upholstered in leather to match the seat. With a clever play of literary and stylistic references, the Belle chair is the delicate, feminine counterpart to the Bull table, but can easily be combined with other models as well.

Borea

Piero Lissoni

With its modern line, Borea is a small, stackable dining armchair in painted aluminium for outdoor use. Particularly attractive is the lower part of the frame that curves slightly outwards as it rests on the ground. The metal bending and curving processes used exploit techniques typically used in the aeronautical sector and transport them into the world of outdoor furniture, giving life to a product with an unmistakable style. Comfort is ensured by extremely soft cushions that are also environmentally sustainable. The padding is in 100% polyester fibre obtained from the recycling of PET plastic bottles and surrounds a polyurethane section of different densities. Borea is a complete collection of outdoor furniture inclusive of chairs, tables, sofas, armchairs and small tables.

Crinoline

Patricia Urquiola

Can you picture the dresses that women wore in the 1800s? Full, bell-shaped skirts held by crinolines (rigid underskirt garments) were spectacular “micro-architectures” commonly seen in living rooms everywhere.

All of the chairs in the Crinoline collection are designed to reflect this elegant look: the wide curve of the base is repeated in the seat and the curve of the backrest.

“The curved part gives it a double-shell silhouette,” said Patricia when describing the soft lines of the series. Crinoline outdoor chairs and armchairs are comfortable, feminine and romantic.

Crinoline is an innovation in taste. An opening. A product that encloses all of the sensitivity of a team working in collaboration with the B&B Italia Research and Development Centre. We left from Italy for the Far East with an aluminium structure: light, recyclable, resistant, completely rustproof and therefore perfect for outdoor use, and everything concerning the weave was changed. The creative process took shape through comparisons with the strengths and weaknesses of manual techniques and love for these traditional arts. Expert weavers tried time and again, but the perfect result escaped us. The woven cover of Crinoline emerged like the Arianna’s cloth: “I gave birth to it with the people who were working on it with me,” said Patricia. As a result, it is a collation of codes and languages. The 1800s, digital information, technology and hand crafted excellence.

Cutter

Mario Bellini

Cutter is Mario Bellini’s new chair with strong and decisive aesthetics which create a new type of seating. The back of the chair is slashed by a cut which is pays homage to the great artist Lucio Fontana. Although evident, Cutter’s nature does not only lie in an aesthetic choice but generates an unprecedented type of seating. The twin backrest’s ends are functional and comfortable in a frontal position, while moving independently and allowing a lateral position. This gesture is suitable for chatting with the person seated nearby. It is also designed to ensure high comfort seating and casual movements, allowing the user to lean on one side with an arm placed around the backrest. The seating frame is made of metal and webbing, softened by a classic polyurethane upholstery. To guarantee elasticity and strength to the double backrest, B&B Italia’s Research & Development Centre has opted for a sophisticated harmonic steel core. The upholstery and cover fully envelop the chair in embossed thick leather, creating an ideal synthesis of softness and rigour, underlined by saddle stitching. The central cut reveals an inner part in refined black Saffiano thick leather, as if Cutter’s soul peeps out from this dramatic opening.

Doyl

Gabriele and Oscar Buratti

The result of sophisticated research on the theme of padded thick leather that reaches very thin tailoring solutions. Flair O’

Monica Armani

Flair O’ is a small domestic throne, a chair that matches the Allure O’ table perfectly. The two objects establish a dialogue starting from their bases. Both pieces sit atop a truncated pyramid with rounded edges to reconcile the concepts of elegance and charm. The base widens gently on the back side as it nears the floor. It becomes almost unnoticeable and provides great stability without interfering with the harmony of the design. A padded seat provides necessary comfort. Moreover, the accentuated tilt of the backrest and its enveloping shape help people relax without compromising the ideal posture to adopt when interacting with others elegantly around a dining table. Furthermore, the chair is equipped with a swivel mechanism with an automatic return. The fabric cover embraces Flair O’ like a tailored suit, covering it completely from the seat to the base.

Flair O’ Outdoor

Monica Armani

The Flair O’ Outdoor chair is characterized by a lightweight aluminium frame completely covered with an interlacing of polypropylene ribbons created following a meticulous artisan process. In particular, the backrest is woven on a special circular loom (tombolo) in line with an ancient technique typical of the area where the B&B Italia headquarter is located. To fine-tune it, Monica Armani collaborated with unPIZZO, a design studio based in Cantù, which specializes in the recovery and development of traditional weaving techniques revisited in a contemporary key and applied to the furnishing sector. The structures, available in sophisticated shades, is completed by two padded cushion that define the shape and provide even more comfort. Heri O’

Monica Armani

Seemingly elementary, Heri O’ by Monica Armani combines elegance, essentiality and charm, and nods to the ‘60s. An object whose shapes and key colour hark back to the pop side of that era. The name Heri O’ comes from the combination of the word heritage with O’. Heritage for the clear references to the archetypes of round wooden chairs, O’, like the Flair O’ and Allure O’ collections, is an homage to the timeless style icon Jackie O’. With a clean design, the chair, light in its forms, is made of a curved and joined wooden frame, a balance between tradition and novelty.
