    Nooch

    Piero Lissoni

After the great success of Borea, Piero Lissoni and B&B Italia continue to pursue research and sustainability in the outdoor sector, creating Nooch, a modular seating system whose name is inspired by the tropical botanical garden of Nong Nooch in Thailand. Its key feature is the tubular structure in recycled aluminium, a light and strong material, completely recyclable. A choice inspired by simplicity, which recalls elementary tubular structures and ennobles them with a design that pays attention to every detail. The intersection of the structural elements represents the iconic feature of this collection, with the particular elbow curve achieved by the way the aluminium bends. A design and engineering detail that combines function and beauty. Nooch is a system that offers the possibility of creating infinite combinations from two base modules: a rectangular one and a square one. Both can be equipped with backrests and armrests and have an aluminium top with slats on which the cushions rest. The modules can be arranged as free-standing units or attached firmly together by means of special interlocking joints so as to create a variety of configurations. A series of additional top sections, to be inserted between the elements, offers even greater compositional freedom. The paddings are designed with sustainability in mind. They use regenerated materials, which are completely separable, and consist of two layers of polyurethane with different densities and firmness: one layer made of polyurethane recycled from production waste and one made of virgin bio-polyurethane, both wrapped in an outer sheath of recycled PET. The system is completed by a small round service element to be inserted between the cushions to offer further support and a particular backrest/armrest cushion to be inserted between the elements to create inverted and double-sided seats.

Sofas

Sofas

    Ayana

    Naoto Fukasawa

Innovative in its warm minimalism, the Ayana outdoor sofa, available in a two- and three-seater version, sees wood as the absolute protagonist. While the depths and heights are a clear reference to the south-east Asian tradition, the backrest recalls a Swedish wall bar, a piece of exercising equipment turned into a load-bearing element. Through this solution, creating an elegant interplay of intersections and proportions, the Ayana sofas can also be placed in the centre of the room. The sofa armrest can be combined with a cushion that is easy to fasten and remove and helps to lie down more comfortably if necessary

    Bay

    Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien

The Bay two- or three-seater outdoor sofa stands out for its sculptural, monolithic design. Enveloping double-braided volumes create air pockets that grant transparency and lightness to the collection, while padded rock-like seats and soft cushions reflect the elegance, comfort and refinement of indoor products.

    Borea

    Piero Lissoni

The outdoor Borea two-seater and three-seater sofas feature a tubular metal frame with a fluid and seamless design, without joints and interruptions, and an unexpected motif in the end part that rests on the ground. The metal bending processes used exploit techniques typically used in the aeronautical sector and transport them into the world of outdoor furniture, giving life to a collection with an unmistakable style.

    Butterfly

    Patricia Urquiola

The Butterfly modular outdoor seating system gets its name from the “butterfly” shape created by the outer corner that joins the armrest and the backrest. With its generous, sinuous lines, it responds effectively to the need for modularity and comfort, offering a free and informal use. Its modular structure is shaped around an ottoman, which is the base piece, and which, when integrated with the backrest and/or the armrest, becomes a central or terminal element, either to the left or right. The combination of these elements, using a simple joint system, makes it possible to freely set up versatile configurations, from in-line sofas to corner solutions, from front-facing to lounge layouts. Completely upholstered, Butterfly brings outdoors the quality and comfort that have always characterised the company’s indoor seating.

    Hybrid

    Antonio Citterio

After the great success of Ribes, Antonio Citterio developed some design ideas behind it and created Hybrid, an innovative new system of modular seating elements that it is so versatile it can be arranged into an almost infinite number of combinations. The key role of the textile dimension stands out immediately, with upholsteries that cover completely the generous padding, the absolute protagonist. These are typical elements of indoor furnishings, which find with Hybrid an outdoor interpretation. Hence the name of the collection, which is proposed as a real link between the inside and the outside of the house. Hybrid represents in fact the perfect furnishing element for climates and spaces that are defined by a continuous blend of inside and outside environments, with rooms that open to an en-plein-air dimension, and for living spaces integrated into terraces and gardens. The combination of opposites happens not only visually, but also through the sense of touch. Hybrid guarantees in fact the typical comfort of traditional upholstered furniture for interiors, thanks to a new type of mattress seat conceived for outdoor furnishing. The cushions are actually made with paddings with different densities, carefully designed to pleasantly accommodate the body and support it at the same time, without sinking. The supporting structures are almost invisible, and the seat seems to float a few centimeters above the floor. The solid base is formed by a frame in extruded aluminum painted in he colours sage, clay and anthracite, and is completed by a platform with fiberglass slats. The backrest conceals an aluminum structure, covered with soft polyurethane, which is in turn covered with a padded sheath, completed with a cover in waterproof fabric. The platform is available in eight sizes and two depths, while the armrest and backrest come in two heights. To guarantee further comfort to the deeper seat, the low backrest can be raised with an additional headrest cushion. Additional cushions in various sizes enrich the range, offering countless design and chromatic solutions. The Hybrid collection also includes a series of new outdoor fabrics made with mélange polypropylene yarn in five colour variants that are accented by refined trims. Choices that confirm a decisive and elegant presence for interiors and outdoor spaces.
